Duracraft Container Selection at Reilly's

Reilly's Country Gardens carries a narrow range of plant containers. Our primary container selection is a light-weight but very durable fiberglass line produced by Duracraft. In 2008 our inventory and selection of Duracraft's containers has dwindled to those below. Carole has in the past almost exclusively uses these fibreglass containers for her floral creations.

The big 'plus' for Duracraft containers is that they can be empoyed for winter-interest containers and they can be left outside during the winter months. Drainage holes have to be created in the bottoms of any soil-filled pots to be left outdoors to allow fall moisture to drain out of the containers. While the fiberglass itself is able to withstand the rigours of winter, trapped water turning to ice does expand and containers may rupture from ice expansion unless adequate drainage is provided.

A second 'plus' for Duracraft containers is that they are sold with no drainage holes in them thus making them excellent for holding water and creating small water features.

It is this versatility that makes Duracraft containers our favourites. Visitors to our nursery have no doubt noticed that we sell what we like and have tried with success. Such it is with Duracraft containers.

Duracraft produces more containers and fountains than we stock. We can certainly 'special order' any requested Duracraft product from Duracraft's online catalogue. See our 'Contact Box' for how to reach us.

The following photos show groupings of some of the unique and interesting pots that we had in 2007. The table below provides product details for our remaing stock.

.

Above left: the brown-coloured containers, beyond the large cement-like hypertufa bowl, are Duracraft's fiberglass resin pots that can take a multitude of abuses - even left outdoors over winter. In the background are a variety of shapes and sizes of hypertufa containers (cement/peat moss/perlite composition) ideal for succulents, alpines and dwarf trees and shrubs.

Above right is a second view of the fiberglass resin pots.

Duracraft Finish information

Metallic Finishes

Bronze (BR): Manufactured with real bronze powder in the finish, these products will develop a unique blue/green/bronze patina around the design edges.

Antique Metal (AM): Antique Metal products are made with iron powder in the finish and will produce an orange/red rust finish around the design edges as the planter ages.

Non-Metallic Finishes

Slate Grey (SG): Slate Grey is a popular non-metallic finish that produces a realistic stone or concrete finish to accessorize your exterior garden or the interior household.

(Also pictured are some Duracraft containers in copper finish. The copper finish option has been discontinued as of 2006. Once these are sold that will be the last of the copper-finished containers.)

Note about availability:

Many of the items shown below are available in other sizes than presented in the "Dimensions & Colour availability" column. Our stock simply reflects Carole's personal taste. By visiting Duracraft's web site you'll soon note that there is much that we do not stock. Anything in their catalogue can be special ordered through Reilly's Country Gardens.
